Pepperoni Pizza Burgers

Nothing in this world to me is better than being able to take two types of food my friends and family love and make one meal out of it.  In this day and age of fast food, pizza and burgers are competing for your dollar.  Let me show you how to combine these two worlds together to make an AWESOME sandwich!!
Pepperoni Pizza Burgers
My favorite pizza is pepperoni, and who doesn’t love burgers???

Pizza originated in Naples, Italy, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

While hamburgers originated in Hamburg, Germany.

That’s my history lesson for today.  If you want to know more about history, by all means, go look up the originations of the foods. I just wanna freakin’ eat the food!!!!  Know what I mean???

So, let’s look at the cast of characters for this one:

Ingredients

 

OH!  And I almost forgot one.

Italian Seasoning

 

For now, ignore the other ingredients such as the pepper, onion, mushrooms, and olives. I will show you a variation of this burger soon that will make your head spin and taste buds stand at attention!!!  Promise!

Now, let’s gather those ingredients.  Shall we?

Ingredients:

    • 1-1/2 pound Ground Beef or Chuck
    • 1/2 pound Italian Sausage (A little more is fine!)
    • ½ to 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning (depending on your taste)
    • 8 slices Provolone Cheese
    •  Pepperoni Slices
    • 8 Tablespoons  Marinara Sauce
    •  Grated Parmesan Cheese
    • 4  Good Hamburger Buns

 

First, start by combining the beef, pork and Italian seasoning in a bowl.

Seasoning Meat

Knead it together till all 3 ingredients are combined well.

Form the mixture into nice-sized patties. I personally like 6- to 8-ounce patties myself.

Place the patties in a skillet…or hey, why not on a grill???  Regardless, you’ll want to use a medium to medium-high heat.

Frying Up Meat

Just remember when your cooking these patties that you must cook them all the way through, because the patties contain pork.  So, no rare or medium rare burgers this time around. You’ll thank me later when you’re not sitting in an E.R. with extreme stomach cramps from eating undercooked meat.

Fry or grill the burgers on one side for several minutes.  You should see the sides of the burger near the bottom start to turn brown.  Once this occurs, flip the burgers over and put 2 slices of provolone cheese on them, followed by several slices of pepperoni.  Go nuts with the pepperoni if you so desire. I sure do!!

Let the cheese melt, and in turn, this will heat up the pepperoni.

(You can click here if you are new to my articles and want this recipe.)  You can use this sauce…or a little less desirable, you can get a bottle of marinara at the grocery.  Your choice here.

Put about a tablespoon of sauce on the top of your bun.

Here you can also choose to toast your bun or just leave it plain.  I like to toast mine to make it crunch a little.  It reminds me of the pizza crust when I crunch into every bite.

Next sprinkle some Parmesan or Romano cheese on top of the sauce. So it looks like this:

Now put the top on your burger, and you have an awesome Pepperoni Pizza Burger!!!!

  1. Good call on the “Good” hamburger buns. I would think that the run of the mill soft 8-for-99 cents buns would fall into mush with these bad boys!
